With a little imagination, your Morphy Richards hair straightener can transform your look and bring real personality to your hair.Adding shine to your hair they say this is now possible by straightening your hair using special straightners. Years ago there were the Babyliss Straight and Shine Steam Straightners which for 7years ago worked very well at straightening your hair and seemingly adding shine to your hair. There is now a newer version of these called Thermaglass Salon Slim Hair Straightners, these are supposed to give your hair a smoother and straighter look whilst giving your hair extra shine. There are also different widths of hair straightners the wide ones and the slim ones. The wide ones are better for people with thicker and longer hair whilst the slim ones would take a lot of effort to straighten thick hair but work well on long hair just takes a little longer.Hair Straightener GuideWith a hair straightener from Morphy Richards you can do far more than just straighten your hair. Our hair straighteners are versatile, multi-purpose styling tools that can be used in a variety of ways to create a huge range of exciting and dynamic hairstyles. With a little imagination, your Morphy Richards hair straightener can transform your look and bring real personality to your hair.Modern flat ironsHigh-end modern hair straighteners have ceramic heating elements, which cause less damage to hair, are more effective and heat up faster than non-ceramic coated heating plates. Less expensive brands usually do not have ceramic heating elements though some may have a paint-like coating that gives the appearance of ceramic plating. Many high end straighteners claim to use ionic and infra red technology, which claims to seal in moisture and oils and to reduce static and frizz.Depending on the hair type, repeated use of hair straighteners, like most other heat styling tools, can cause varying amounts of damage such as split ends, thinning of the hair shaft and even causing hair to become brittle and prone to breakage. Generally, after extensive damage, hair will show signs of dryness and display an unhealthy appearance. However, many companies, such as L’Oréal and Tresemmé, have began to manufacture heat protection sprays and cream which aim to reduce the amount of damage that is caused by the use of straighteners.Curling With Hair StraightenersCurling with your hair straightener is a simple way to add body and texture to your hair. Although it may seem surprising, a Morphy Richards hair straightener is actually a very effective tool for creating curls in your hair.Begin by straightening your hair if it isn’t straight already. This will give you a “blank canvas” to work with.Divide your hair into sections. The more sections you make, the looser your curls will be.Clamp your hair straighteners over a section, trying to keep the heated plates as close to the roots as possible. As you pull your hair straighteners through your hair, turn them 180 degrees by rotating your wrist. Make sure you maintain an even, gentle tension on your hair. To produce tighter curls clamp harder, rotate the straightener more and increase the tension on your hair.Don’t brush your hair after curling – simply tease your fingers through it to add body and bounce.Creating Flips With Your StraightenerCreating flips with your hair straightener is an easy technique that adds real character to any hair style. To create a flip in your hair, simply straighten your hair as normal, but, when you reach the tip, curve your hair straightener outwards to introduce a flip out, or inward to create a flip in. This straightforward technique is a great way to add interest and put an intriguing spin on a straight hairstyle.

Hair- styling Tips
Choose a style that maximizes your best features. probably, the most important feature you should consider is your face shape-is it round, oval, square or long?
Make sure you brush your hair and make it tangle-free before styling.
Before you start, read through the steps and imagine yourself styling your hair. Concentrate & think how you will carry out each step.
Do not use the mirror as you style your hair. The reversed image might mislead.
You can even close your eyes & concentrate till you've finished.
Don't tense shoulders while you're styling. The position might be unfamiliar, but tensing won't help.
Keep hair clips, pins & rubber-bands within reach. They'll be of help in keeping certain sections of your hair out of the way, while you're doing up the others.
Decorating your hair with fresh flowers, brooches or beads could be a good idea.
Hair Styles
We will explain 7 exciting different hairstyles for you. Try it out and send us your feedback.
High Point: Gather all the hair to the back of the head and make a high ponytail. Take 3 nets and pin it on the ponytail. Divide the ponytail into 3 sections. Fold the first section into two layers and cover the hair with the net. Roll the hair with two fingers and place it on top of the ponytail and secure with a pin inside. Repeat the same with the other 2 sections of the hair and secure the rolls. Secure the rolls above the ponytail with pins.
Beehive:Gather all the hair at the back of your head. Hold all the hair in one hand and twist until it doubles back on itself. Secure by placing a pin, just catching the hair centrally, leaving out the sides. Fan out the ends by separating the hair into fluffy loose curls, and pin them as you want.
French Connection: Part the hair sideways at the front. Comb back a section of the hari from the crown and braid it. Secure with an elastic band. Draw all the remaining hair to the back of your head and wrap it around one hand, from right to left. Roll the hair inwards, so that the end is tucked in smoothly. Begining at the bottom of the roll, secure it with pins. Fold the braided hair into two (based on hair length) and place it over the pin area, and secure onto the top of the roll using a pin.
Curly Wurly: Part the hair in the centre, from the forehead to the middle of the crown. Smoothen out the hair at the back and secure into a ponytail with an elastic band. For the hair in front, take small sections (about 1 inch) from the hairline to the crown, twist 3 or 4 turns and secure it with a pin over the ponytail. Divide off a small section of the hair from the ponytail. Holding the end, twist the hair until it rolls back on itself to form a coil. Position the coil in a loop and secure using hairpins. Continue in this manner, till all the hair can be coiled.
Queen of Braids: Gather a portion of hair at your temple and divide into 3 equal parts. Braid the first 2 turns the normal way. Take a few strands of loose hair from the side of the head and add to the part you are braiding. Continue to take up loose hair and weave into a braid gathering strands alternately from each side. Entwine the parts as you go along. Stop when it reaches the nape of your neck. Repeat the same steps on the other side of your face. Make a simple plait using the two side braids and the loose hair at the centre. Continue braiding till complete.
Honey Bun: Part the hair in the centre in a zigzag style from the forehead to the middle of the crown and then make a high ponytail at the back. Take approximately one third of the hair, from the top of the ponytail, braid till the end, and them secure with an elastic band. Gather the remaining hair of the ponytail and twist it, making sure all loose ends are tucked in. Bring the hair up and around, pinning it underneath to form a bun. Wrap the braid around the bun and secure the ends with a pin underneath. Now, gather the hair in the front and tuck it under the bun at the back, for a perfect finish.
Low Behold!: Part the hair at the centre, from hairline to the middle of the crown. Make a braid on both sides till the ear and secure it. Gather the rest of the hair into a low ponytail at the back. Roll the haif from underneath using two fingers and forma a low bun. Use a net to secure bun in place. Bring the brairded hair towards the ponytail from either sie and overlap or roll over the pony, depending on the length of the hair. Secure it in place with a pin.

Dark circles under eyes TURNS INTO BRIGHT

Dark circles under eyes immediately start disappearing turning them into shining bright eyes as the eyebrows get raised naturally and lift the eyelids further up and lock them there. The skin under the eye is thinner than the rest of the skin around. Hence the veins under it give it a blue tinge appearing as dark circles there.
Also the skin under the eye is affected more by the sun tanning.
Rubbing or scratching the eye darkens the skin under the eyes as well.
Medications causing the blood vessels to dilate also pronounce these dark patches.
Lack of nutrition discolors this area too.
Lack of sleep or excessive fatigue turns skin pale and shows these dark patches more.
Pregnancy and menstruation also accentuate the dark under eye circles.
Age sags the skin, drooping the eyelids and generating bags over there. The dark circles start showing even more than before.
But the way we have been going through our previous posts not only lifts-up the drooping eyelids, removes the excess eyelid skin along with the excess fat-tissue, removes dark circles under eyes, and turns back the eyelids that have gone turned-in or turned-out; but also gets a total facelift for you without going for an anti aging eye cream or an anti wrinkle eye cream, or any surgical procedure.Just open your eyes FULL in their TOTAL WIDTH by putting a slight smile on your lips, and you will have got the two bright eyes on your face! And then this only is the right way you should always open your eyes in while you are awake. If you are really interested in and really curious about whatever you are looking at, it automatically happens so.We do need looking into this interest and curiosity thing further in its depth and we’ll certainly come out with many more pearls of biological wisdom from there.

Wrinkles and its Remedies

Wrinkles and its Remedies
Let us Know about Normal Skin before analysing the skin with wrinkles.
The skin normal is made up of 3 layers - the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. The epidermis is the outer layer .The cells of the epidermis, move from the bottom layer of the epidermis to the top layer. Epidermis acts as a protective layer to external environment. As the cells reach the top layer they flake off.
The second layer dermis, contains the connective tissues which are the structural elements of the skin. These tissues give skin the strength (collagen fibres), turgor , elasticity (elastin) etc. The cells of the epidermis receive their nutrients from the blood vessels in the dermis.
Below dermis is the subcutaneous tissue containing fat cells. These fat cells act as insulation to the body. The skin looks plumpy due to fat cells.
causes of wrinkles and Changes that occur in skin as age advances.
Changes in epidermis:
The epidermal cells become thinner as age advances .They also lose their stickiness. This change in epidermal cells allows the moisture to escape instead of retaining it back causing dryness of the skin. As we get old the epidermal cells start dividing slowly and the rate of repairing process also retards. Thus thinning of skin leads to wrinkles

Skin Care for Your Face: According to your Skin Type

Skin Care for Your Face: According to your Skin Type

Skin care should be designed to fit your type of skin. Some people are lucky enough to have normal skin, but most of us are not that lucky. Your teen and young adult years are a time when your oil glands tend to be overproductive. There are great products on the market today, wish we had them when I was a teen.

What to Do For Your Face Care ?

DRYSKIN

You tend to have dry, tight, flaky skin due to underproductive oil glands. For some people this means less acne.PLAN: Wash your face once or twice a day with a mild cleanser (nothing that calls itself 'soap'), but 'cleansing or beauty bar'. Soaps have too much detergent in them for your skin. Use a Sensitive Skin Bar or Sensitive Skin Face Wash. Follow this up with an oil-free moisturizer. If it has a sunscreen, better yet, but that in the morning.

OILYSKIN

Your oil glands are working overtime. Your skin is shiny and your pores tend to get clogged, causing blackheads, whiteheads and zits. PLAN: Wash your face twice a day with a medicated cleanser, the gels seem to work better. Neutrogena Acne Wash is great for this. Then use a toner or witch hazel. A good product is Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil Controlling Astringent, try the inexpensive witch hazel first, but it may dry out your skin. For acne use: 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide lotion (the generic brands work fine). If it dries your skin, take some days off from using it. Don't use the 5% or 10% benzoyl peroxide.

COMBINATIONALSKIN

This is what most of us have. Your T-zone (see skin care) is oily, while your eye area, cheeks and sometimes neck are dry. PLAN: If you could spend the time and the money you should use different products for the different areas. BUT, it’s simpler to use one cleanser. Wash once or twice a day with a mild milky or exfoliating cleanser. Use Biore Mild Daily Cleansing Scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores. Use an alcohol-free toner that contains some salicylic acid to the T-zone and a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide to the oily areas at night. Use an oil-free moisturizing lotion on your dry areas. (Clinique Moisture In-Control Oil-Free is good, but costs more than the Neutrogena products.

NORMALSKIN

Lucky you! You may tend to get zits before your period if you are female. PLAN: Wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser like Neutrogena Clear for Normal Skin or Basis Clear Face Wash. You may want to use a moisturizing lotion afterwards like Neutrogena Moisture, IF it seems to cause you to breakout, stop using any moisturizer. You may not need it. Dove products may be fine for you.

The Perfect Polish

The Perfect Polish
Everyone wants to have long, beautiful nails, and the perfect finish is a beautifully applied coating of colored enamel. Whether your natural nails are short or long, the perfect polish is the finishing compliment to your manicure.
To begin with, always be sure your polish is fresh. Enamel that has been allowed to thicken will not apply evenly or thinly and will tend to bubble, streak and not 'cure' or adhere properly. Polish will thicken because it is 'volatile'. This simply means that the solvents in the enamel that keep it in a fluid state will quickly evaporate when exposed to air. The longer the bottle remains open during application, or if it is exposed to a heat source, the solvents will quickly evaporate and the enamel will become thick, gooey, stringy and make a perfect application impossible. Store your enamels/polishes in a cool, dark place and away from sources of heat.
Begin your application by turning the bottle upside down and 'rolling' each bottle of enamel between the palms of your hands. Never 'shake' the bottle as this method will form bubbles of air in the enamel which will transmit to the finished surface after application.
The Perfect Polish is applied by first stroking down the center of the nail plate from cuticle to free edge, then stroking each side in turn. Three to four strokes on each nail is sufficient to evenly distribute the coating. Additional stroking will only lift and move the enamel leaving behind streaks and/or bare spots on the nail surface. Leave a tiny margin all around the cuticle and sides of each nail to ensure that the polish does not touch your skin and that it adheres properly to the nail plate. Remember, oil is a separating medium and your skin contains oils and moisture.
Apply the colored enamel in the same manner, allowing enough time for each coating to dry between layers. Always apply each layer very thin. If the pigments in the enamel are not 'even' after the second coating of color, allow an extra minute, then apply a third coat. The pigments in some red or metallic enamels tend to separate during application and may require a third coating for even color distribution. Allow from one to three minutes after this third coating before applying your top coat or sealer. Nail enamel will dry from the first coat up to the last, and the solvents in the enamel must evaporate before the coatings are hardened. Pausing as long as you can between coatings will produce a smoother, more brilliant surface. Applying coatings that are too thick, too close together, or with enamel that has thickened with time will smudge, dent or may peel from the nail plate entirely. Applying the coatings too quickly is a major reason for the 'orange peel' texture. This is especially pronounced in times of high temperatures and humidity,
Waiting for polish to dry can be tiresome, but the slower it dries the better! Slower evaporating solvents produce brighter colors. Forcing the polish to quickly dry by using heat or chemical dryers will actually result in excessive shrinkage and cracking. Formulations that use rapidly evaporating solvents tend to bubble and pit more or produce uneven surfaces. Blowing on the polish will lower adhesion and gloss.

CONTINUE

Remove all traces of old enamel by moistening a cotton or gauze pad with the remover of your choice. Press the pad onto the nail plate, hold for a few seconds, then swipe toward the free edge. Change the pad often as the remover cannot perform well if it is saturated with old enamel. Dark pigmented enamels are the hardest to remove, and the old polish may get on your skin or underneath the free edge. If this happens, wrap a small piece of cotton on the end of the orangewood stick, saturate it with remover and clean the enamel from the cuticle line and under the free edge.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Use a 240-grit file to remove length or to perfect the free edge by filing from the outside corner to the center of the nail plate. Never saw back and forth across the free edge as it can disrupt the nail plate layers and lead to splitting and peeling. The ideal shape of the free edge should mirror the shape of the cuticle, i.e.: an oval cuticle = an oval free edge.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
To seal the free edge, use the 3-way buffer: black to refine, white to semi-shine and gray to finish. This will seal the layers of the free edge to further prevent splitting or peeling.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Apply cuticle remover, oil or lotion all around the cuticle area if you so desire, then immerse the nails in the soaking dish for no more than 3 minutes. If you are performing this procedure on yourself, soak one hand at a time and proceed to the next step. Perform the procedure on the other hand. Soaking for more than 3 minutes will fully saturate the nail plate, causing it to swell. Once the plate returns to its normal shape, any polish that is applied will crack and chip.
If your nails are already dry and brittle, perform a hot oil manicure instead.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Remove the fingers from the soaking dish, and holding the orangewood stick or metal cuticle pusher much as you would a pencil, proceed to 'push' the invisible cuticle skin from the nail plate surface back toward the 'live' tissue. Do not use downward force when performing this procedure as the nail matrix could become damaged from the aggressive force. Keep in mind that all you want to do is remove any translucent skin from the nail plate -- you do not want to break the seal between the proximal nail fold and the nail plate. Perform this procedure on all 5 fingers, then do the same on the other hand. The 'skin' you see at the cuticle line in Fig. 2 has been pushed back from the nail plate. This 'true cuticle' can be gently removed by scraping the plate with the cuticle pusher or the curette.

MANICURE INGREDIENTS

There are a few other items that you may wish to use during your manicure, all of which are optional:
Cuticle Remover:
These cosmetic solutions will aid in softening the cuticles and may contain 2-5% sodium or potassium hydroxide and glycerin's. Apply to the cuticle area after filing and before soaking in the fingerbowl.
Nail Cleansers:
Usually a type of detergent (scrub) in liquid form that is added to the water in the fingerbowl to aid in soaking and cleansing the nail plate.
Cuticle Oil, Lotion or Creams: Any combination of essential oils that soften and lubricate the skin and nails.
Nail Bleaches:
These cosmetics contain hydrogen peroxide or organic acids that can be applied over and/or under the free edge of the nail plate to remove stains. Sometimes they work -- sometimes they don't!
Base Coat, Enamel color of choice, and Top Coat.
Polish Dryers:
These products can be sprays or Top Coat enamels and are designed to quickly dry the surface layer of enamel. The solvents in nail enamel must evaporate in order for the polish to dry. When Polish is applied, the solvents on the surface begin to evaporate and the solvents on the bottom begin to move upward, and the surface begins to harden. The solvents have to diffuse through this hardened surface and evaporation slows down. Polish dryers repel this thickening layer, pulling the solvents into itself. This action is much like pressing down on a wet sponge, or wringing our a wet rag. The polish is not totally 'dry', but is simply much drier than it was immediately after application. It takes a full hour for the enamel to be free of solvents and fully hardened.
Aromatherapy Oils:
For a relaxing mood or to relieve stress.
Sloughing Lotions:
To aid in exfoliation of rough, dry skin.
Paraffin Wax Machine:
Paraffin wax aids in moisturizing and conditioning the skin by opening the pores and allowing the massage/aromatherapy oils to deeper penetrate the skins outer layer.
Arrange your files, implements and tools on the table towel on top of your working surface so they are within easy reach. Wash your hands with a mild detergent or hand soap, rinse well and dry thoroughly.

TUMMY EXERCISE

Our bodies are genetically conditioned on how we lose or gain weight. Interestingly enough, the first place where we gain weight is the last place where we lose it. We cannot reduce only the part we do not like. Once we lose fat from our body, we lose inches everywhere even where we do not want to lose.

The problem with tummy muscles is that we do not generally exercise this muscle in daily life. It is not greatly challenged from climbing stairs, bending, stretching or walking. We, therefore, have to make a special effort to encourage it to come back into line. The movements have to be small and controlled and depend on the effort put in by the exerciser to get really good results. Secondly during pregnancy, as the baby grows inside the muscle (transverse) is pushed forward. A huge amount of stretching is going on and tends to leave the muscle loose and hanging forward after the birth. It is essentially the lack of strength left in this muscle which allows the tummy to sit in that rather round forward position Mothers would recognise from after birth. In all cases it is the lack of exercise for this muscle which causes it to become loose and give the 'pot bellied' appearance.
Myth No. 1: By doing some midsection exercises one can reduce 'love handles'. Fact: You cannot reduce fat from a certain targeted area of your body just by using exercise alone. And the abdominal area is no exception. So if you want to get a flat stomach and to reveal your abs, losing the fat covering them is the way to go. And the only way to do this is to lose fat proportionately from your entire body by burning more calories than you consume

CHAPTER 2

Getting Ready
1.Before we begin, make sure you are properly prepared. Disinfect all hard surfaces (True Blue), then wash your hands with soap and water and sanitize them with an instant hand sanitizer (Cool Blue).
2.Make certain your rolling cart is fully stocked with a disinfection tray, Spa Pedicure products, other pedicuring products, implements, tools, towels and polishing products.
3.A successful set-up is well organized and embellished with your own special touch and creativity; flowers, music, candles and relaxing low light. (Although not so low you can't see what you are doing!)
4.All pedicure clients should have filled out the consultation form (client profile) covering medical history and other important information. Remember, you must proceed with caution if a client is diabetic, calling the client's physician for clearance if you have any doubts, and never perform a pedicure in an extreme situation, such as open sores or infections of the foot or leg.
5.Plan on the service taking around an hour to complete. This includes a six to seven minute massage per leg. When you do the service in the salon, complete each step on all five toes before going on to the next step.

Preparing the Bath
1Fill the foot bath with warm water -- this means under 100° F, or a comfortable Jacuzzi temperature. In a vibrating unit, use one scoop of Foaming Sea Soak™, then add the water to agitate as it fills to create a beautiful light foam in the bath.

2.Foaming Sea Soak™ is a concentrated seaweed foot soak with a lacy foam and fresh fragrance that cleanses, sooths and deodorizes. Do not use Foaming Sea Soak™ in a whirlpool bath!
Let your client get settled in the chair with shoes, socks or nylons removed.

3.You may provide a robe if the client so desires.
Submerge both the client's feet in the warm water, adding more water if necessary to adjust the temperature to the client's comfort.
4.Add one level scoop of Sea Rocks™ to the water, agitating with your hand to dissolve and blend.. Sea Rocks™ is a softening, hydrating, aroma therapeutic foot bath treatment that will add a gentle foam to the water and release the aromatic vapors of Tee Tree and Eucalyptus Oil into the room.
5.Soak the clients feet for 5 minutes in the bath to take full advantage of the softening effects of Rice Bran and Vitamin E Oils. As they soak, remove your instruments from the disinfection unit and lay them on a clean, sanitized towel.

PEDICURE CHAPTER-1

INTRODUCTION

To perform a pedicure you will need all of the same files, implements and tools required to perform a manicure except you will want to replace the finger bowl with the foot bath. If you are performing this procedure on yourself, place a large folded terry towel on the floor in front of you upon which you will set the foot bath after it has been filled part-way with water. Add a few drops of liquid soap or nail scrub, essential oils or your favorite foot bath/salts to the water and allow it to disperse.
Place all your implements, files and supplies on a terry towel within easy reach. You will be following the same type of procedures as with a manicure, although the files you will use will be a different grit as the toenails are generally thicker than the fingernails and require a grit of about 180 to remove length. You will also need to use your toenail nippers. You may also wish to spray or wipe your feet with an antiseptic spray prior to starting your pedicure, and be sure to thoroughly wash your hands.
You may also choose to use some of the same 'optional' products with your pedicure that you used with your manicure.
Remove old polish from the nails of both feet.
File toenails straight across, rounding them slightly at the corners to conform to the shape of the toe. Use the toenail nippers to remove the underside of the corners so they will not 'dig' into your flesh. Use a 240-grit file to smooth the underside of the corners and to bevel the free edge.
Place one or both feet into the foot bath, and flip on the massage button if your machine is equipped with the massage feature. Allow your feet to soak for a full 5 minutes.
Apply cuticle remover if you wish and massage it into the cuticle.
Use your orangewood stick or the metal cuticle pusher to push back the transparent cuticle and to clean under the free edge. Never 'dig' into the flesh as breaking the seal between the nail plate and the nail bed will allow bacterial organisms to enter and an infection could occur. Do not use excessive pressure to push back the cuticles as this action could damage the matrix.
If loose cuticle skin is apparent, you may remove it by nipping with the cuticle nippers, being careful not to cut live tissue.
Repeat steps 2 - 6 on the other foot.
Scrub your feet and toenails with the nail brush being sure to cleanse the lateral nail fold and underneath the free edge.
If you have a build up of calloused skin, it can be filed with an 80-grit foot file paddle. Never attempt to use a credo blade to cut or remove calloused skin as it is much too easy to remove healthy skin along with the callous. Do not attempt to remove all of the calloused skin in one session. Depending on the depth of the callous, it can take several months or more for the healthy skin to show.
Massage both feet by applying lotion, cream or oil to the palms of your hands and then to your feet. Massage your feet, lower legs and toes, then put both feet back into the foot bath and scrub the toes to remove all traces of oil or lotion. To remove the suds or bath salts, use a spray bottle filled with warm water to rinse the toes, then dry your feet, legs and toes and between the toes with a soft towel.
Wipe each toenail with a cotton or gauze pad saturated with remover or alcohol to be sure the nail plate is free of oils.
Apply basecoat, two coats of color and a thin topcoat. Be sure to allow a minimum of 1 minute between coatings for each coat of enamel to dry.
If you are afraid of smudging the polish, you may wish to use toe separators between your toes. Leave them in place until the enamel has completely dried.
Empty the foot bath, clean it with a disinfecting solution and dry the tub. Clean all your implements with the same solution, allowing them to soak in the solution for a full 10 minutes. Remove from the solution, rinse, dry and place in a sealed container for the next use.

MANICURE

BY;SARITHA
Long, manicured nails are a fashion statement.
A manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the fingernails and hands performed either at home or by a nail technician. A manicure treatment can be just for the hands or nails, or can be for both. A common manicure found is the filing, shaping of the nails and the application of polish. There are also manicure services that are specialties for the hands and feet. For the hands, the soaking of a softening substance and the application of a lotion is a common specialty. Another common specialty is applying a similar treatment to the feet and toenails. This is called a pedicure. The word "manicure" derives from Latin: manus for "hand," cura for "care."
In addition to the filing, polishing, and painting of fingernails, a manicure may also include the application of artificial nail tips, acrylics or artificial nail gels. Some manicures can include the painting of pictures or designs on the nails or applying small decals or imitation jewels.
In many areas, manicurists are licensed and follow regulation. Since skin is manipulated and is sometimes trimmed, there is a certain risk of spreading infection when tools are used across many people and, therefore, sanitation is a serious issue.

MAKING UP YOUR EYES

BY; SARITHA
Eye make up tips are provided on these pages to educate and entice you. There are countless tips that can be considered, but only the best are worth your time. Many of us realize that the eyes are the most essential part of the make up of the face. Take note of these eye make-up tricks for a quick glamour fix that you’ll just adore!· Arch your brows to begin. The key to a clean look for your eyes begins with a beautiful shapely brow! Avoid the “werewolf syndrome” by trimming and shaping your brows. I highly recommend having a professional stylist do the job. It’s always easier for an expert to tweeze or arch your brows than attempting the do-it-yourself tactic. Be sure to clearly explain your expectations. I always take in a picture to show how I want my brows to look.Eyeliners. Eyeliners add further definition to the eye and put a more finished look to the effect desired with the application of the eye shadow. To apply the eyeliner, draw the line first on the lower lid, and then draw a line on the upper lid, starting from the inner corner and going towards the outer corner. The eyeliner should be applied closely to the lash line.Mascara. In putting mascara on the eyelashes, a woman adds more life to her eyes and makes them seem brighter. The color of the mascara that you should choose, however, should complement the color of your skin.· Choose your shadows wisely. Eye color makes a difference when choosing shadow colors. Brown eyes look good with most colors, however, try adding some variety to your face by spicing it up with some color. Blue and green eyes should avoid the blue and green shadows. This will give you a pale and dull appearance. If you have blue or green eyes, smoky colors tend to bring out your eyes the best. A make-up trio is good to buy because part of the work is already done for you, color coordination. When you use a color trio, go from lighter to darker starting at the lid part of your eye.· Applying the Shadow. Most women just start applying shadow without the most important initial step, the base. Using foundation to base your eyes brings out the true color of the shadow and allows the shadow to stay on longer. After the base, apply the shadow with a long tipped brush. These are just better for application and blending. To top it off, add a little liner to the very top of your lids to make your eyes appear sexier, but be sure to smudge it. Helpful hint-after applying more than one color, blend them with a separate brush to create a more natural look.· Mascara is a Must- Choosing your mascara is tricky. Most women don’t put much thought or money into the type of mascara that they use. Well, if I were to invest in one expensive type of make-up, it would be the mascara. Why? Well, for one, cheap mascara can actually lead to breakage of the lashes! It’s true… cheap mascara, which leads to clumping, weighs down the lashes, which eventually leads to tearing lids out to remove the mascara. You can choose thickening mascara, lengthening, or conditioning (if you don’t need longer or thicker lashes) depending on what you need. The make-up market has a plethora of mascara products to choose from. I suggest avoiding colorful mascaras, as they tend to add too much to your look.· Pull your look together by color-coding. Basically, be sure to tie it all together by choosing the rest of your cosmetics to match your beautiful new eyes. If you are wearing smoky eyes, red lips look great! Shimmery shadows go great with nude or earth tone lips. Never mix shiny lips with shimmery, eyes unless you want to look like a character from High School Musical. With a more matte look, say, an Audrey Hepburn classic look, you can sport earth-tone lips or red lips. Just be sure that you aren’t over killing on one color.Curl lashes An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous. For added effect, you can heat the curler under a blowdryer for a couple seconds. Test curler before applying to lashes because you could burn yourself.Apply mascara Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Follow with another few sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well.

HAIR STRAIGHTINING TIPS

With a hair straightener from Morphy Richards you can do far more than just straighten your hair. Our hair straighteners are versatile, multi-purpose styling tools that can be used in a variety of ways to create a huge range of exciting and dynamic hairstyles.

HOW TO BREAKE A WEIGHT LOSS PLATAUE

No matter how efficient your diet & workout plan, you are bound to face a weight-loss plateau at one point or another. But this does not mean your weight-loss trend has ended, it just means that you need to revise your tactics and fitness routine to overcome the plateau and march ahead! Plateaus are common to anybody who's been on the same diet and exercise plan for a while, which is the reason why you don't see the same results you saw at the beginning. But its not as scary or difficult to break a weight-loss plateau. I've done it myself, and I hope my ideas help you achieve similar results too!If you've been eating right and exercising often, you've probably been losing weight at a rate of one or two pounds a week. However, as you get closer to your optimum weight, it usually gets harder to lose those last few pounds. You know you've hit a weight-loss plateau when more than two weeks have gone by without any further change in your weight, while you still follow the same regimen! So the first thing you do is review your exercise and diet program, find out what's wrong and make amendments. Here are a few helpful tips to get you started!Calorie Intake & Diet PlanAs you probably know by now, weight loss is all about burning more calories than you consume. A healthy diet plan is the key, so take a quick look at your food diary, or calorie intake. Are you still keeping track of your portion sizes, even when you are dining out?Are you spacing your meals 5 times a day, dividing daily calories between them?have you recently sneaked in a few desserts or carbs thinking a piece won't hurt much?Did you switch to sodas instead of smoothies and juices? Are you drinking enough water? It's easy to increase your calorie intake accidentally, without realizing how its hurting your diet plan. Remember, a baked potato is not the same as a baked potato with gravy and butter! So evaluate your calorie consumption; maintain a diet hhournal if you like; if you are well above the 1200(for women) or 1500 (for men) daily intake level, you can try cutting down a couple hundred calories to break the plateau. However, if you are consuming less than 1,200 calories a day (1,500 for a man), your body may react by slowing down as a self-preservation measure. This means your metabolism rate falls, and you actually store fat even if you're working out consistently.
Eat 5-6 Times a Day
Eating frequently stabilizes your blood sugar, controls appetite, and keeps your energy up. Ideally, you shouldn't go more than three or four hours without eating something. Doing so slows down your metabolism and makes your body burn fat at a slower rate. Its also very important to eat as soon as you feel hungry - a feeling of hunger indicates your blood sugar is going down, which makes you prone to craving simple sugars. If you're eating three times a day, eat five. If you're already eating five times, upgrade to six or seven. This doesn't necessarily mean you'll be eating more food; just divide your calories into 6 meals per day.Change Your Workout Routine"Variety is the spice of life" - and this phrase has never been so fitting to a scenario! It takes your body only four weeks to get used to a workout. Once something becomes a routine for your metabolism, plateaus are likely. The most efficient way to break a plateau is to shake up your fitness routine. Join an online weight loss program to find tips and ideas. If you are used to 30 mins on the treadmill, switch to cycling or kick-boxing instead. Instead of the stationary bike, switch to a Stepper or a StairMaster. Instead of running in the morning, try playing tennis or do some swimming. Use Interval Training to your advantage; short bursts (30-60 sec)of higher-intensity movement, such as sprint, followed by 2-3 mins of less intense exercise like walking. Adding variety to your routine brings revs up your metabolism as the body has to start adapting again.Add More Strength TrainingIf you are not doing so already, start lifting weights now to boost your metabolism and burn fat! When you lift weights, your muscle fibers suffer tiny tears which causes you to experience soreness for a couple days; but that's normal. Changing the intensity of the workout helps a lot. Try to increase the amount of weights you lift, or try changing the number of repetitions. Whenever you change a workout routine your body responds by burning fat. Do not under-estimate the power of strength-training; in fact, lifting weights is the best way to conquer that plateau! Challenge your muscles with harder exercises or heavier weights (every 6 to 8 weeks), adding a set of risers during your step class, increasing the incline on the treadmill, the duration of your run/walk, etc… It might seem tough at first as your newly challenged muscles will have to work harder but you will burn more calories and build more lean muscle mass in the process. its always a good idea to do a combination of resistance machines and free-weights, as the latter can increase metabolic rate as high as 10% in one session!Avoid Alc0hol & Drink Water
Thirst is often mistaken for hunger. Every time you feel the urge to snack, drink a glass of water first and see if the urge goes away. Coffee, tea or any other juices count as liquids, but add an extra glass of pure water for each cup of coffee you drink, as caffeine tends to dehydrate the body. Research has shown that BMR increase by 30%, not to mention flushing out all toxins from your body, thereby contributing to a healthy weight-loss. As for Alcohol, it is a known fact that it contains a large amount of calories, but hardly any other nutrients, and some of these are also high in sugars and fat. Alc0hol consumption slows down the fat burning capabilities of the body, as the body focuses on using the alcohol (a toxin) as fuel, rather than burning fat for energy. Alc0hol also dehydrates, which in turn, makes you hungry. So avoid Alc0hol, and start drinking more Water instead!

Would you like to reduce those worrisome fine lines on your face and look youthful again? Here are some helpful tips.As you get up there in years, certain problems are going to crop up and one of them is wrinkles. They can show up around your eyes, forehead, cheeks and neck. You can get rather depressed when you look into a mirror. Take heart, there are answers.Maybe you cannot stop time from marching on, but you can reduce the signs of the aging process and look better than ever. Here is what happens and some suggestions to follow. Why Do You Develop Wrinkles? As a person ages, the skin undergoes significant changes. The inner layer of the skin begins to thin and the cells begin to divide more slowly. Fat cells begin to lessen or die beneath the dermis. The network of collagen fibers and elastin which provide a sort of scaffolding for the surface layer begin to loosen and unravel. Skin then loses its elasticity. It tends to droop and forms furrows. The oil secreting and sweat glands atrophy, and the skin cannot retain its moisture. Therefore, it becomes dry and scaly. Constant facial expressions form characteristic lines. Gravity makes the situation worse and contributes to the formation of drooping eyelids and jowls. Also, eyebrows tend to move up as someone ages perhaps because of forehead wrinkles and the skin has less of an ability to repair itself so wounds heal more slowly. There are other forces at play that can make your skin suffer, such as :1. The sun damages collagen fibers and causes an accumulation of abnormal elastin. Metalloproteinases, or enzymes, are produced that are able to repair most of the damage, however, it is this repetition of the rebuilding process that is done over and over again that causes skin problems.2. The sun's UV radiation promotes oxidation. This also leads to the development of skin abnormalities.3. Cigarette smoking causes the thickening and fragmentation of elastin, reduces circulation and the amount of oxygen that is supplied to the skin, and leads to less Collagen formation and reduced water content in the skin. Lastly, smoking compromises the ability of the skin to fend off free radicals causing cell destruction.4. Air pollution – Ozone may be a problem for the skin. It may cause depletion of Vitamin E in the skin which is a vital antioxidant.5. Rapid weight loss – This can cause fine lines since it reduces the volume of fat cells which cushion the face. This will cause the skin to sag.6. Heredity – You may have inherited some skin characteristics from your parents.Wrinkles are the most noticable signs of aging. As tissues sag, these lines form a type of canvas that is covered with cracks that have varying depths. As time marches on, they deepen and reach the dermis. As the dermis loses its elasticity, it becomes slack which leads to the formation of more pronounced wrinkles over 0.05 mm in depth. Here is the normal progression of wrinkles characterized by age group:20-25 – Vertical wrinkles on one's forehead and even between the eyebrows may already be visible. Fine lines at the external edges of the eyes are not yet noticeable.25-40 – In the epidermis, wrinkles begin to deepen. They are less than 0.0005 mm in depth. They are caused by the superficial drying out of one's skin as well as the slowing down of cellular renewal.40-50 – Fine lines around the lips, crow's feet, furrows alongside of the nose and the line between the eyebrows are all beginning to deepen. The skin loses it elasticity and the facial contours are not less well defined.50 and over – Hormonal secretions end as menopause appears and this speeds up the aging process. The skin's surface begins to modify and intermediary lines are replaced by ever deepening furrows. The older you become, the more wrinkles you get. You can minimize this damage by taking good care of your skin.Anti Aging Skin Care Treatments: here are a few promising treatments for sagging skin. There are some new wrinkle creams and topical lotions, like Avotone or Revitol, that contain natural ingredients that may help lessen this problem. For example:1. Argireline - this is a safer alternative to Botox. It is not derived from any poisonous substance, but from naturally occurring amino acids. This element relaxes facial tension because it is able to reduce the excessive release of neurotransmitters which are also known as catecholamines. These make your facial muscles become tense. If your muscles are not tense, they do not contribute to wrinkles. Also, it may slow down the degeneration of elastin and collagen which normally occurs with aging.2. Dermox SRC - this is a specially tested serum that helps to control wrinkles, increases the synthesis of collagen, and restores the skin's surface.3. DMAE - it has been indicated that this antioxidant is able to function as a cell membrane stabilizing agent. It reinforces the skin's foundation of elastin and collagen, makes cells live longer, and helps avoid cell dehydration. It may also assist in the healing of scars, which includes acne scars, and helps to flush out excessive lipofuscin from skin cells reducing age spots. How Can You Minimize Fine Lines and Wrinkles? There are many things you can do to reduce the wrinkles that you already have and minimize future occurences. These include:Stay out of the sunAvoid smokingUse a very good topical anti-wrinkle creamDrink plenty of waterEat plenty of vegetables and fruitsExerciseBy following these steps regularly, you will be taking important actions to help maintain a youthful appearance while reducing the onset of aging skin.
